Kitty’s On Top Form

On Monday 19th April 2021, Liz and Lindsey had the absolute pleasure of visiting and interviewing Olympic eventer Kitty King at her yard in Wiltshire. At the top of the list of topics to ask Kitty was her fantastic win and second placing less than 24 hours earlier with two of her top horses Cristal Fontaine and Vendredi Biats at the 4 star Burnham Market International Horse Trials in Norfolk.

Two relaxed women chat to each other.

Returning to the yard at midnight victorious with a 1st from winning her CCI4*S class on Cristal Fontaine and second place in another CCI4*S class on Vendredi Biats, Kitty ever the consummate professional, was straight back out into the yard schooling the many horses she’s training for the world of 5 star eventing.

Kitty, not only with the 2016 Rio Olympics under her belt but a silver medallist from the European Championships in Luhmuhlen in Germany in 2019 as well as being the top scoring British rider there was, until recently, the only British rider to compete and win medals representing Great Britain in the Pony, Junior, Young Rider and Senior teams.

Little wonder than that during the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, when all sporting events were suspended, Kitty made good use of her time keeping her large string of event horses fit, happy, trained and in great shape and ready to compete the moment the lockdown was lifted, evident in the many wins and top scores she’s already notched up in a short space of time since late this March.

Liz asked Kitty about all aspects of eventing including the forthcoming Olympics in Tokyo, how eventing has changed since she began her career, tips for inspiring young up and coming riders as well as many other topics. All in all, it’s a great opportunity to learn more about the life of a top athlete and much is revealed in short videos Liz recorded when interviewing Kitty. To view these short videos, take a look at the Yeoman Haylage Facebook Page and the Yeoman Haylage Instagram social media sites.

John, Liz, Nick and the team at Yeoman Haylage wish Kitty every continued success for the eventing season and look forward to hearing that Kitty has been selected for Tokyo in the 2021 Olympics to represent Great Britain again!
