Double Celebration For Young Rider – Wins Class And Meets Olympian Kitty King

Several show-jumping jockeys pose with their rosettes outside a trade stand marquee.

Up and coming event rider Thomas Inglis from Westhill near Exeter at only 16 years old riding his mare Cudora P, was victorious winning the under 18’s Yeoman Haylage sponsored BE100 class at the British Eventing Horse Trials at Pontispool, Norton Fitzwarren in Somerset on Sunday 28th May 2107.

A regular to Pontispool, this was Thomas’ first win this season on Cudora P and said the cross country course rode really well with a variety of good questions. He’s doing his GCSE’s at The Kings School in Ottery St Mary and would like to become a professional event rider in the future.

Luckily for Thomas, while collecting his prize at the Yeoman Haylage Stand with nine other prize-winners from his class, along came Yeoman Haylage sponsored Olympic eventer Kitty King who is just setting off to Tattersalls in Ireland to represent GB in the Nations Cup Team over the next few days.

Thomas would love to think his eventing would take him to the top like Kitty and aspires to his long term plan of competing at the highest level at Badminton and the Olympics. When he’s not riding his horses or at school, Thomas helps his mum with the family ice cream business, the ‘Taste of Sidmouth’ and Thomas said his Mum Cathy had booked him to make home-made ice cream the very next day on Bank Holiday Monday starting at 7am!

This is a busy young man with drive, dedication and motivation – just the right attributes to take him to the top. Watch this space………
